Bruce Swift's Swift Short Line & Rio Grande

This layout is an oval shaped walk around railroad with lots of detail and scenery. The layout is based on the two railroads of D&RGW and Union Pacific when they were in the process of merging and also transitioning from steam to diesel engines. There are freight and passenger service trains running at all times. Freight trains travel up through a trestle over a lake to reach the upper level for mining and timber operations. A variety of kits from Campbell, Alpine, American Model, and Fine Scale add to the detail of enjoyment and realism. Layout includes the Swift Meat packing plant, Bert’s Brewery, Dill & Son Pickle business, Alpine Lumber Yard, a barrel factory and coal mine.
